High Point company wants to use art to encourage health

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A new company in High Point is hoping to color the world with its art prints that encourage folks to eat smarter, think positively and exercise.

Paradigm Nutrition Inc., formed in late 2011, offers “nutritional facts in a nonthreatening, easy-to-understand way,” said Bill McKenzie, who owns the company with his business partner, Ted Johnson. “It just delivers an easy message to people.”

“Eat More Colors” is the simple message on a Paradigm Nutrition print that highlights all types of fruit from apples to watermelons. Another print, “Food for Thought,” lists several foods that affect thinking, including fish and leafy green vegetables.

“We know the horrible statistics out there,” McKenzie said. “Almost two-thirds of the adult population is seriously overweight, and we have childhood obesity in virtual epidemic proportions.”

Company visits site of possible call center

HIGH POINT, N.C. — The man who will ultimately decide to open a call center that could employ as many as 2,000 people has a better idea of what the Piedmont Triad has to offer.

Bill Bartmann was in a business park in the High Point and Greensboro area looking at property he might want to use for those jobs.

North Carolina is one of five states in the running for his business.

Bartmann runs a company called CFS2 which started as a debt collection service. The CFS2 call center would bring 2,000 jobs to whichever city is selected.

Among the locations within the Piedmont, CFS2 is considering Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point, where NCO Customer Management recently announced it would close its call center along with cutting 658 jobs.

If High Point is selected, the call center would occupy the former NCO building on Highway 68.

Bank of NC expanding

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) - Bank of North Carolina just announced the relocation and expansion of two of its Greensboro offices.

Bank of North Carolina purchased the Regions Bank property at 2201 North Elm Street at Cornwallis Drive. The current downtown Elm Street and Dover Road offices will relocate to this new facility.

“We have been strategically looking for a more desirable location and are thrilled to have the opportunity to make this purchase as Regions Bank made the decision to leave the Triad,” Reid Marks, Northern Market President said. “While the current Elm Street and Dover Road locations have served us well over the years, this move will give us ATM and drive-through banking that these two locations do not offer.
